The 8st edition of the famous Montella Chestnut Festival will be held from 10 to 2013 November 31
All those who go hunting for festivals in the fall will absolutely not be able to miss the appointments dedicated to the "symbol" fruit of this season: the castagna. We have already recommended two events not to be missed: the chestnut festival in Sommana Casertavecchia , Chestnut Festival of Arpaise (BN).
But chestnut festival most famous of Campania is without a doubt the one held every year a Montella, in the province of Avellino, now in its 31st edition this year and to be held from 8 to 10 November 2013.
Montella's chestnut has in fact obtained the IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) mark for some time, it stands out from other variants for its typical sweetness and is considered among the best produced in Italy. The chestnut festival of Montella has now become an essential autumn event to which many visitors from all over Campania want to savor dishes and dishes based on this delicious autumn fruit, from roasted chestnuts to desserts.
As a backdrop to the event many typical local products, such as the caciocavallo hanged, suppressed, roasted bacon, mushroom polenta, rustic and local pizzas. But above all a series of folk events, local art and craft exhibitions, guided tours in the places of historical and landscape interest of Irpinia and at some processing companies, with tasting of chestnut-based products.
