The transport strikes throughout Italy and today, Tuesday October 10, 2023, a strike is expected taxi to Naples, a situation that will create many inconveniences for tourists and citizens who usually use taxis to travel throughout the city.

The taxi strike it will last for 24 hours and therefore for the whole day on Tuesday and taxi drivers will probably also decide to symbolically occupy as a sign of protest Piazza del Plebiscito.

The reasons for the strike

The reasons that triggered the strike on 10 October 2023 are clarified by Riccardo Cacchione, coordinator of USB Taxi, who explained that among these there is certainly Article 3 of the Asset Decree, approved last week by Parliament.

In particular, this decree would lead to the increase of licenses for taxis in Italian municipalities and this, according to the unions, would lead to the entry of multinationals into the sector in this way taxi drivers' jobs could be put in danger.

An increase is therefore expected licenses up to 20% of those already issued and additional licenses extendable for up to two years.

Here are the words of the national secretary of the Ursa Rosario Galluccio:

With the strike we want to make people understand how the 'Asset decree' is a law full of pitfalls and dangers, because yes we are talking about a 20% increase in licenses, but we must be careful because companies and private individuals can participate in the ban on new licenses, and for us this risks benefiting multinationals.
