State road 3 between Somma Vesuviana and Ottaviano will be closed to traffic for 268 months due to works to double the artery.
From 5 June 2017 the 268 state road "of Vesuvius" will remain closed for three months for work extension and security. In particular, the artery will be closed in the section between Somma Vesuviana-Cupa of Nola (8 kilometer) and Ottaviano-Industrial Zone (12 kilometer) in both directions which will be a further step in the doubling of the 268 state road started in 2010 and which in the future will have to cover all 19 kilometers of the road.
Work on the 268 state road
The ANAS announced that the duration of the works should be three months, period in which the vehicles will be diverted by alternative routes, probably within the municipalities of Somma and Ottaviano. During the interdiction to traffic will be made mandatory for those traveling from Naples to Angri exit at the junction of Somma Vesuviana-Cupa di Nola and return to Ottaviano-Industrial Zone and vice versa if traveling to Naples.
The blockade of circulation, decided by a round table composed of ANAS, representatives of the institutions and law enforcement, should allow a faster execution of the work and a safer working environment. Since September, with the resumption of the school year, ANAS plans to open one of the two roadways and use it in two ways. From that time it will take another two months to complete the other roadway and deliver the upgraded and enlarged 268 Statale.
