Stop at the ZTL Dante, the viability on the city artery has been restored

It's well known that this had been in the air for a while; the Dante ZTL had been closed for a long time (although not many people knew it), specifically since September 2020, when the collapse at the Galleria Vittoria forced the municipal administration to redistribute traffic to other city arteries.

The crossing was then reinstated on September 15, 2022, in pre-operation mode, but without any fines being imposed, so it was essentially a mere traffic deterrent.

The ZTL was implemented to improve the livability of the area, but without public transport it has blocked the road system

In fact, the Dante ZTL experiment can be considered a failure , given that it brought few benefits and many disadvantages, starting with the total congestion of other city roads, given that it is a fundamental hub for traffic in the city.

Just think that to reach Piazza Matteotti from Via Cavour it was necessary to continue almost as far as Piazza Garibaldi and then go up again along Corso Umberto, going from a journey of 500 meters to one of almost 3 kilometers in the heart of the city center with all the traffic that follows.

As soon as the conditions exist to guarantee citizens and the many tourists a decent public transport service, which would no longer justify the use of private cars in the city, I will be the first, together with many resident citizens, to promote Ztl and pedestrian areas in all municipalities. Until then it is useless to hide behind the finger, let's get to work and solve the many mobility problems in the city of Naples.
