It is established that the thing had been in the air for a while, the ZTL Dante had been stopped for a long time (although not many knew it), to be precise since September 2020 when the collapse of the Vittoria Gallery forced the municipal administration to redistribute traffic on the other city arteries.
The gate was then restored on 15 September 2022 in pre-operation, but without high fines so in fact it was more of a mere traffic deterrent than anything else.
The ZTL was implemented to improve the livability of the area, but without public transport it has blocked the road system
In fact the experiment of the ZTL Dante can be said to have failed, given that it has brought few benefits and very many disadvantages starting from total congestion of the other city roads since it is a fundamental junction for the road network in the city.
Just think that to reach Piazza Matteotti from Via Cavour it was necessary to continue almost as far as Piazza Garibaldi and then go up again along Corso Umberto, going from a journey of 500 meters to one of almost 3 kilometers in the heart of the city center with all the traffic that follows.
As soon as the conditions exist to guarantee citizens and the many tourists a decent public transport service, which would no longer justify the use of private cars in the city, I will be the first, together with many resident citizens, to promote Ztl and pedestrian areas in all municipalities. Until then it is useless to hide behind the finger, let's get to work and solve the many mobility problems in the city of Naples.
