From October until November 2021 some entrances and exits of the Naples ring road will be closed shifts to allow scheduled maintenance of the tunnels. They consist in washing the shells and inspecting the artifacts.
Therefore, from Monday 18 October, only during the night, the tunnels will be closed in rotation and consequently also some wider sections of the ring road. The night time has been chosen in order not to create inconvenience to the vehicles, moreover they will only take place on weekdays.
Here is in detail all weekly closuresthat will be updated as the Tangenziale will communicate the notices on a weekly basis.
The tunnels and sections closed in October
Capodimonte exit
From 22.00 pm on October 19th to 6.00 am on October 20th the Capodimonte exit is closed in both directions. For those coming from the motorway axis, the alternative exit is Zona Ospedaliera.
Monte Sant'Angelo Gallery heading east
From 23.00 pm on October 19th to 6.00 am on October 20th the Agnano Fuorigrotta section heading east / highways will be closed to traffic. Consequentially:
- the mandatory exit for those coming from Pozzuoli is Agnano heading east / highways and a recommended return is at the Fuorigrotta entrance junction with the following alternative route: Via Agnano agli Astroni, Via Nuova Agnano, Via Terracina, piazza Gabriele D'Annunzio , via Cintia;
- the Agnano exit towards the east / motorways is closed to traffic. For those coming from ordinary roads, the recommended alternative entrance is Fuorigrotta
- the link road connecting via Agnano to the Astroni / Tangenziale, also called Italia '90, is closed to traffic. For those coming from ordinary roads, the alternative entrance is Fuorigrotta
- the Sarni Agnano east service area is closed.
Vomero tunnel direction east / highways
From 23.00 pm on October 20th to 6.00 am on October 21th the Camaldoli / Arenella-Zona Ospedaliera section in the east direction / highways is closed. Consequentially:
- the obligatory exit is Camaldoli heading east / highways for those coming from Pozzuoli. A recommended return can be the Arenella entrance junction with the following route: Via Gabriele Jannelli, Via Simone Martini, Via Arenella, Via Giambattista Ruoppolo, Via Giotto, Piazza Medaglie D'Oro, Via Giuseppe Orsi, via Giacinto Gigante);
- the Camaldoli entrance junction towards the east / motorways is closed. For those coming from ordinary roads, the alternative entrance is Arenella.
Solfatara tunnel heading east / highways
From 23.00 pm on October 21th to 6.00 am on October 22th the Arco Felice-Pozzuoli / Agnano section in the east / motorway direction is closed. Consequentially:
- the obligatory exit is Arco Felice / Pozzuoli heading east / highways for those coming from 7 / IV Domitiana. A recommended return is at the Agnano entrance junction with the following route: Via Montenuovo Licola Patria, Via Domitiana, Via Adriano Olivetti, Variante Solfatara, Via Solfatara, Via San Gennaro Agnano, Via Antonio Beccadelli, Via Agnano agli Astroni;
- the Arco Felice entrance junction towards the east / motorways is closed. For those coming from ordinary roads, the alternative entrance is Agnano;
- the via Campana junction towards the east / motorways is closed. For those coming from ordinary roads, the alternative entrance is Agnano;
- ESSO Antica Campana Est service area is closed.
Fuorigrotta entrance
In the following three nights it will be closed Fuorigrotta exit in both directions:
- from 22.00 on 20 October to 6.00 on 21 October;
- from 22.00 on 21 October to 6.00 on 22 October;
- from 23.00 on 22 October to 6.00 on 23 October.
For those coming from ordinary roads, the alternative entrance is Agnano.
Inspection of works of art
- from 23,00 pm on 27/10/2021 to 6,00 am on 28/10/2021 and from 23,00 pm on 28/10/2021 to 6,00 am on 29/10/2021: closed stretch of the “Arco Felice-Pozzuoli / Agnano” motorway heading east / motorways.
Mandatory exit "Arco Felice / Pozzuoli" towards east / motorways for those coming from the "7 / IV Domitiana";

Closed ESSO “Antica Campana est” service area.
- from 22,00 on 28/10/2021 to 6,00 on 29/10/2021: at the “Fuorigrotta” exit, the exit ramp is closed towards “Stadio-Napoli centro”. For those coming from the “Fuorigrotta” toll booths, alternative exit ramp recommended in the direction of Soccavo-Pianura.
- from 23,00 on 29/10/2021 to 6,00 on 30/10/2021: closed at the “Camaldoli” exit towards the west / Pozzuoli. For those coming from viability, the recommended alternative entrance is “Vomero”.
- from 6:00 to 16:00 on 30-31 October -1st and 2nd November 2021: “Doganella” exit closed in both directions. It will be reserved only for the transit of public and service vehicles.
Tertullian overpass maintenance
- from 23,00 on 28/10/2021 to 6,00 on 29/10/2021: closed “Fuorigrotta” exit towards west / Pozzuoli (for vehicles coming from motorways, recommended alternative exit “Agnano”).
Washing of noise barriers
- from 23,00 on 29/10/2021 to 6,00 on 30/10/2021: closed at the “Corso Malta” exit towards the west / Pozzuoli. For those coming from ordinary roads, the recommended alternative entrance is "Capodichino / airport".
Night closures in November
- from 22,00 on 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 November 2021 at 6,00 on the following days, for 5 nights, the “Fuorigrotta” exit towards Pozzuoli will be closed (for vehicles coming from the motorways, the recommended alternative exit “Agnano”).
- from 23,00 pm on 15 and 16 November 2021 at 6,00 on the following days the “Camaldoli / Arenella-Zona Ospedaliera” motorway section in the direction of the motorways will be closed. Consequently: mandatory exit "Camaldoli" towards the motorways for those coming from Pozzuoli (possible return recommended at the "Arenella" entrance junction with alternative route: Via Gabriele Jannelli - Via Simone Martini - Via Arenella - Via Giambattista Ruoppolo - Via Giotto - Piazza Medaglie D'Oro - Via Giuseppe Orsi - via Giacinto Gigante); closure of the “Camaldoli” exit towards the motorways (for those coming from ordinary roads, the recommended alternative entrance to “Arenella”).
- from 22,00 on 16/11/2021 to 6,00 on 17/11/2021 the “Arenella” exit will be closed in both directions (for those coming from the motorway axis, the recommended alternative exit “Camaldoli”).
- from 23,00 pm on 17 and 18 November 2021 at 6,00 on the following days the “Doganella / Capodimonte” motorway section in the direction of Pozzuoli will be closed. Consequently: compulsory exit "Doganella" towards Pozzuoli for those coming from the motorways. We recommend returning to the “Capodimonte” entrance junction with an alternative route: viale Umberto Maddalena, via Nuova del Campo, via Domenico D'Ambra, via Arenaccia, via Nicola Nicolini, via Ponti Rossi, via Capodimonte); closure of the entrance exits towards Pozzuoli di "Capodichino / airport", "Doganella / viale Maddalena" and "Corso Malta" (for those coming from the ordinary roads and the SS162 / Dir, alternative entrance recommended "Capodimonte"); closure of AGIP “Doganella Ovest” and ESSO “Scudillo Ovest” Service Areas.
- from 22,00 on 17, 18 and 19 November 2021 at 6,00 on the following days and from 23,00 on 19 November 2021 to 6,00 on the following day, the “Arenella” exit will be closed in both directions. For those coming from the motorway, the recommended alternative exit "Camaldoli". The Arenella entrance junction is closed to traffic in both directions. For those coming from ordinary roads, the recommended alternative entrance is "Camaldoli".
Refund of the toll
If, by virtue of these closures, one is forced to a double payment at the Tangenziale toll booth, you can ask for a refund. Just keep the receipt.
Here's how to get it:
- the receipt of the first payment is collected, either manually or automatically;
- with manual payment, after the return the receipt must be shown to the staff and the new entrance is not paid;
- with automatic payment, after the return the receipt of the payment made is collected and a refund can be requested at the Punto Blu offices in Fuorigrotta or Astroni. You can also send a copy of the receipt to the email info@tangenzialedinapoli.it indicating your personal details and bank details;
- those who own the Telepass must communicate their device number to the email info@tangenzialedinapoli.it the device number.
