Palazzo San Giacomo, home of the City of Naples, will open its doors to tourists and citizens for free guided tours.
From the 4 31 May 2017 (according to the calendar of dates indicated by continuing to read) Palazzo San Giacomo, seat of the Municipality of Naples, can be visited for free thanks to the initiative promoted by the Department of Culture and Tourism, the Department of School and Education and the Department of Youth, Creativity, Innovation. These visits have already taken place in the past, but the novelty is that they will become more stable and will take place for several days in a row.
Visitors and tourists will be accompanied by guides inside the Palace for admire the 800 rooms and understand the symbols that tell the story of our city.
The visits will be carried out on the scheduled days and then others will be organized until the end of June, which will be announced as soon as they are official.
How to participate
To access the building it is necessary register at the pass office in via Imbriani at least 30 minutes before the start of each guided tour (subject to availability of seats), or fill out the reservation form you will find on the website of the municipality.
If there are still places available, you will receive a reservation code which you must print and present at the entrance to Palazzo San Giacomo. The invitation is nominative and it is forbidden to request more than one from the same person. Children up to 15 years of age will be able to access, accompanied by their parent, without the need for a reservation.
Visitors will be divided into accompanied groups either for the "historical" section or for the "current affairs" section.
The historical section
This path will last about 90 minutes and includes:
- History of the building and curiosity
- The facade and the main entrance
- The courtyard
- The stairs and the history that lead to the historic offices of mayors
- The Sala della Giunta, history and view
- The meeting room of the mayor of Naples
- The office of the mayor of Naples, history and customs
The current section
This course, which will last about 60 minutes, will take place at the Sala Giunta and includes one of the following activities:
- Meeting with the mayor (or with the councilors) to whom it is possible to leave a written reminder if your questions have a private topic, or you could ask them aloud during the meeting.
- Simulation of a municipal council, where citizens will dress the roles of councilors and mayor.
- Information on the Neapolitan city, on the inhabitants, the tributes, the population and the analysis of some problems.
