Update: the honorary citizenship to Alberto Angela will be conferred on 26 June 2018 at 11.00 at the Sala dei Baroni of the Maschio Angioino. To deliver it will be the mayor Luigi de Magistris who declared his appreciation for Angela's work towards Naples and her ability to "enter the body of Naples like few others".

Alberto Angela will be honorary citizen of Naples and to announce it is the mayor Luigi de Magistris who has signed the resolution that will be presented to the junta. They will decide during the meeting day and place of the conferment of this honor, so the most popular science divulger in Italy will become a Neapolitan citizen.
La proposal was put forward by a Neapolitan journalist which, after collecting hundreds of signatures, submitted the request to the mayor who showed himself to be in favor of giving the citizenship to Alberto Angela for a series of very valid reasons. First of all, for the creation of very interesting and in-depth documentaries on Naples, Pompeii, Herculaneum and other important places in Campania, but also for the way in which "he knew how to live our city, enter the depths, live the contradictions, make the essence of the Neapolitan and the hidden beauties".
Honorary citizenship is given to those who really deserve it, as stated by the mayor himself and Angela's way of doing journalism and documentaries makes him worthy.
Recall that also the captain of Naples, Marek Hamisk, received this honor.
