The long awaited Alfa Romeo Tonale will be produced in the Pomigliano d'Arco plant, in Campania, precisely at the Stellantis plant.
It is a very prestigious goal because the Alfa Romeo car is among the most important in the world and, according to the British, has been considered Car of the Year 2021.
Furthermore, for the Pomigliano d'Arco plant it means considerably increase production, thus engaging many workers and increasing revenues. A nice step forward that also adds to the increase in sales of the Fiat Panda.
For this new production commitment, an entire area of the plant has been modernized.
A high-end compact SUV
The new model was presented today 8 February 2022 and, as mentioned, it will be produced in Pomigliano d'Arco and then be sold in North America together with the Dodge Hornet, practically a twin of the Tonale. It is, in fact, two Compact and hybrid SUVs and their commercial launch will take place on June 4th.
The characteristics of theAlfa Romeo tonal:
- a cross range of powertrains and engines will be a petrol, diesel, mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid;
- model 2.0 GME T4 MHEV - 330 horsepower it is the most performing: it is a mild hybrid with a 2.0 liter, 4 horsepower 330-cylinder turbo engine and four-wheel drive;
- the batteries are 11kWh and in full electric the autonomy will be about 50 km.
The other models are:
- 1.3 GSE T4 (150 horses)
- 1.3 GSE T4 MHEV (190 horsepower)
- 2.0 GME T4 MHEV (330 horsepower)
- 1.3 T4 PHEV (240 horsepower)
- 2.0 MJet (190 horsepower)
- 2.0 MJet MHEV (220 horsepower)
Prices have not yet been disclosed.
Definitely the production of this high segment of cars requires one greater professionalism and important skills and making the choice of production fall back into the Campania factory means recognizing its quality and seriousness.
Productivity and profitability will increase, giving new growth prospects for the plant.
The car of the year
As mentioned, according to the British, the Italian Tonale, from Alfa Romeo, is the car of the year. In fact, he won the award Car of the Year 2021, one of the most important awards of the magazine “What a car”. It came in first place in the standings, surpassing the Ioniq Hyundai SUV by 20 points, in second place.
