In particular, the region of Campania stands out with well 19 awarded locations, including among these also a novelty: San Mauro Cilento, located in the province of Salerno, which confirms itself as the holder of the record for awards.
The arrival of summer brings with it the announcement of Blue Flags, a prestigious award assigned annually by the NGO Fee (Foundation for environmental education). This international award, present in 81 nations, celebrates the best beach destinations that stand out for their clarity , purity of marine waters. During 2023, Campania saw the addition of only one new location to its list, San Mauro Cilento, located in the province of Salerno, which holds the record for the highest number of awards.
Campania and its Blue Flags, the list
Among the five provinces of Campania, only three overlook the sea. Only the provinces of Napoli e Salerno have had the honor of receiving the Blue Flag, thus excluding the province of Caserta. With 19 awarded locations, Campania is positioned at third place in the national ranking, tied with Tuscany and Calabria, surpassed by Puglia and Liguria, respectively in second and first place.
