Masterpieces to be rediscovered, tours in the hidden churches of Naples

The most beautiful churches in Naples will return to light, thanks to the special guided tours dedicated to the rediscovery of the city's masterpieces!

The historical, cultural and artistic heritage of Napoli is famous all over the world. But not everyone knows that in the enormous Neapolitan wealth, the unexplored treasures of ancient churches remained in silence for too many years.

The initiative will bring to light the extraordinary beauties still to be discovered "Masterpieces to rediscover in the city: conversations with the curators", a cycle of twelve fascinating guided tours that will be held in sequence the last Saturday of each month.

In particular, the review, organized by the Office for the Protection and Enhancement of the Territory of the Special Superintendence for the Historical, Artistic and Ethno-anthropological Heritage and for the Museum Pole of the city of Naples, will start Saturday 28 February 2015 with the fascinating itinerary dedicated to the Church of Santa Maria di Monteoliveto, known asChurch of Sant'Anna dei Lombardi.

Visitors will be able to admire for the first time, magnificent masterpieces of Renaissance art signed by famous artists, among whom appear the "Allegories of the Virtues" of Giorgio Vasari, the tomb of Antonio Fiodo by Francesco da Sangallo, the group of the Compianto sul Cristo by Mazzoni and many other works never seen before.

The second scheduled itinerary, will be held Saturday 28 March 2015, with a fascinating journey in the Church of S. Pietro a Majella. Not to be missed.
