Naples Central Funicular Closure: the E3 substitute bus is active

Work continues on the Naples Central Funicular and, to reduce the inconvenience, the new E3 minibus line will be activated.

Because of the long ones works that are affecting the Naples Central Funicular, one of the most important funiculars in the city, the protests due to the hardships they increase from day to day.

We remember, in fact, that the works will last for good 300 days (they started on 1 August 2016) and, to overcome the problem, some replacement bus lines were introduced which, however, were not enough.

To meet the demands of citizens, therefore, from Monday 26 September 2016 the E3 minibus line Otokar model. This shuttle will cover the Augusteo (Toledo) - Corso Vittorio Emanuele section (new stop at the end of Salita Cariati) and will be active from 7.30 to 20.00, with a frequency of 30 minutes.

The complete route of the shuttle is as follows:

  • From terminus Piazza Trieste and Trento - via Nardones - steps of Chiaia - via Santa Caterina da Siena - ascent Cariati (new stop at the end of the Salita Cariati opposite the Central Funicular station).
  • From corso Vittorio Emanuele - climb San Nicola da Tolentino - vico san Nicola da Tolentino - via San Carlo alle Mortelle - piazzetta Mondragone - (follows the route of the E6 line deviating due to the closure of 2 section of via Nicotera) via Nicotera -Santa Teresella degli Spagnoli - vicoletto Sant'Anna di Palazzo - via Carlo De Cesare - via Toledo - terminus piazza Trieste and Trento.
  • Once the stretch of via Nicotera has reopened, the line will cover via Nicotera in its entirety - via Serra - piazza Carolina - piazza Trieste e Trento.
