The Campania Region is preparing for mass screening for the population, against Coronavirus, during phase 2 of the emergency.
An announcement by the President of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, tells us that a regional plan is underway to implement it mass screening of the population to define a Covid-19 monitoring, prevention and treatment plan.
Specifically, De Luca said that this plan will go in parallel with the plan to relaunch economic and social activities and must be an integral part of the next Phase 2, which should start in May.
This plan will have to involve hundreds of thousands of people who will be screened according to different priority levels.
The regional mass screening plan
The plan announced by the President has three phases:
- during the first step, the ordinary activities of the public laboratories and the Zooprophylactic Institute of contagion control must be given greater development, through swabs. In this way, you have to get to do it 3000 swabs per day, especially for symptomatic people.
- subsequently, one must be activated targeted screening for more problematic groups: family members of patients in home isolation, health personnel and police forces, elderly people in shelters, those who resume economic activity, weak bands such as disabled or diabetes patients, transport operators, civil servants in contact with many people and many others. During this phase, public structures and private laboratories must be activated
- in the last phase, mass screening must be done a asymptomatic people, starting from the elderly. It must be done in territories with a higher population density, among the economic categories most exposed to the public such as hotels, restaurants and bars. With this phase, thousands of checks will be obtained in the coming months.
The operational meeting
De Luca's statement concludes by communicating that one is scheduled for April 15 operational meeting “Between the regional task force, the Cotugno managers and the heads of all the public laboratories active today”.
