The Mandarin Festival of the Phlegraean Fields returns with a new event in Naples , more precisely on 20 and 21 January 2018 in the San Lorenzo Maggiore Complex.
This is the sixth edition of this event, which, over two full days, will introduce us to the history of the mandarin typical of the Phlegraean Fields and the unique characteristics of the Phlegraean Fields, a fertile area well suited to growing many products.
The area is volcanic in nature, and the word "flegrei" itself derives from the Greek and means "to burn ," a reference to volcanic eruptions. The Phlegraean Fields include the municipalities of Bacoli, Monte di Procida, Pozzuoli , Marano di Napoli, Quarto Flegreo, as well as parts of Naples such as Bagnoli, Fuorigrotta, Pianura, Posillipo, Soccavo, Agnano, and Pisani. In this geographical area, which also includes the islands of Procida , Vivara, and Ischia , the soil is very fertile and allows for the growth of excellent products , including mandarins. The festival in its honor, held in the Church of San Lorenzo Maggiore in Naples, will be an opportunity to taste delicious varieties and learn interesting facts and information.
