The Chaia Funicular reopens to the public, with a newer and more functional system

Today, 2 October 2015, The Chiaia Funicular will reopen to the public, closed since last August 14 for extraordinary maintenance work aimed at the technical adjustment of the plant.

At 12 the first Funicular race will start which connects the Vomero, from the station of via Cimarosa, to Chiaia, arriving at the Parco Margherita station (piazza Amedeo). There were no delays in returning the historic public transport system to the city, as a re-opening of the 2 October was already announced a month and a half ago.

And so, in less than six weeks, the technicians completed the work according to the timing indicated by the company, presenting to the public a newer and more functional funicular.

The maintenance intervention included:

the replacement of vehicle components and systems: car brake control units and related hydraulic wiring; "Argano" room brake control unit and relative wiring; on-board electrical equipment and related wiring; control system and driving of the vehicle doors; safety devices for pulling the traction rope and for speed control; device for restraining disabled wheelchairs; interior layout of cars: seats, support handles and floor covering; transmission antenna line safety system; on-board door communication system and installation of a video surveillance system with line view from the switching station.

In particular, the CEO of Anm, Alberto Ramaglia, expressed his satisfaction with the work carried out by the Neapolitan mobility company: “Latest generation technologies and a reliable and high-level work team that I would like to personally thank, he said, have allowed us to successfully complete this activity once again, in full compliance with the announced schedule”.
