At the Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro continues the fascinating journey to discover the two souls of Naples: Vesuvius and San Gennaro

will continue until February 28 2014 the exhibition set up in the evocative spaces of the Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro in Naples, from the title Fire and Passion, returning to the busy program of events of the cultural review Naples, a month of music and art.

As you can understand from the subtitle Vesuvius and San Gennaro - the two souls of Naples, the protagonists of the exhibition are two emblems and symbols of our city, Vesuvius and San Gennaro, which come together in a magical and evocative exhibition itinerary. Both represent, in fact, two opposing moods of the Neapolitans, the fear and the looming threat of the volcano, and the constant hope of protection by the patron of Naples.

Visitors will be led into the marvelous rooms of the museum where, in addition to admiring the precious Treasure of San Gennaro, which has a higher value than the English Crown Jewels, will be able to learn about works of art, such as gouaches, photo prints and medals that are part of the heritage ofVesuvius Observatory, the first volcanic observatory in the world wanted in 1841 by King Ferdinand II of Bourbon to monitor Vesuvius.

Literary documentation on the eruptions will also be exhibited, such as the first seismograph in the world conceived in 1856 by Luigi Palmieri, director of the Vesuvian Observatory, fifteen ancient gouaches on the eruption of Vesuvius, artifacts and medals in lava stone and samples in volcanic material.

A truly unmissable event for those who want to immerse themselves in the two different but complementary souls of the city of Naples, one sacred and the other profane, a fascinating and always current contrast.

Moreover, every week-end of January literary visits will be held to discover San Gennaro and Vesuvio told by great authors of literature together with the "Cantori dell'Arte" led by Clio, muse of history.

These are the upcoming events:

Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 January with Malaparte and Marotta
Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 January with Marai and Dumas
