The Castel dell'Ovo reopens to the public.

The Municipality of Naples has communicated bad news relating to the Castel dell'Ovo. Indeed, the structure will be closed to the public, currently indefinitely, due to the detachment of some stones from the facade.
We will have to wait for the securing especially to protect visitors who could be at risk if the Castle were still open to visits.
As mentioned, the Municipality has not yet given any news about opening times and unfortunately all cultural activities and events planned within it will also be suspended.
Tutankhamun exhibition suspended
Given the suspension of any type of activity at Castel dell'Ovo, it will not even be possible to visit the exhibition dedicated to Tutankhamun which for months has been enjoying great success.
They won't even be there visits guided, shows, conferences and similar activities. Only entry for service reasons will be allowed, always and only in strict compliance with safety regulations.
Long neglected maintenance
Unfortunately, it is not the first time that such an episode has happened.the last closure took place between February and March. Since a long time adequate maintenance interventions have not been carried out and the restorations have been missing for too long, as declared also by the mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi.
The mayor also explained that in order to start the restoration and restructuring interventions it is necessary to complete the path of formalization of the agreement with the State Property and with the Ministry of Culture, currently expired.
This reformization should take place in the next few days and finally I will be able to intervene to reopen the Castel dell'Ovo and make it safer than it is today.
