the famous Monument to the Scugnizzo returned to his seat a Napoli, in Piazza della Repubblica, after a long period of absence due to the work for metro line 6.

In fact, years ago it was necessary to dismantle it, very carefully, to allow these interventions, but now it has been reassembled with the same attention.

I restorers they are reassembling it in every piece and in a few days the reassembly work will be complete.

The tribute to the Four Days of Naples

Recall that this important work is a Monument to the Four Days of Naples and this is his real name.

Commonly the people know it as a Monument to the Scugnizzo and remember theinsurrection of 1943 that the Neapolitan people operated against the occupier Nazi managing to liberate the city before the arrival of the Allies.

It was designed by the sculptor Marino Mazzacurati in 1963 and it was made so that from each of its four sides you can always meet the gaze of a street urchin represented. Just the Neapolitan urchins were fundamental for the success of the insurrection and their struggles, as well as unfortunately their deaths, were important and will always be remembered.

Their faces carved in stone come together in a single vortex, an intertwined motion that evokes the dynamism of their actions.
