Julian Assange could become an honorary citizen in Naples

Julian Assange is an Australian journalist and activist, known to many for having founded the popular organization WikiLeaks. It is an international organization that anonymously receives secret documents belonging to the state, military, banking and others and which are then published.

Why Julian Assange is in prison

For almost four years, precisely since April 2019, Julian Assange has been in prison in the United Kingdom, at Her Majesty's Belmarsh prison, awaiting extradition to the USA, on charges of conspiracy and espionage. His detention, which also appears to take place in very severe conditions, has sparked protests from human rights organizations.

Today, Tuesday 31 January 2023, the City Council of Naples will have an important task, namely that of voting on an agenda, with the first signatory on director Sergio D'Angelo. This is the request for the provision of the honorary citizenship to Julian Assange.
