The nights of Pliny are back with guided tours and night shows at the archaeological excavations of Herculaneum!

Until 13 September 2016, as part of the initiative Campania by night - Archeology under the stars", Which guarantees the evening opening of some sites of particular cultural and historical importance, will take place"Pliny's Nights ", of the suggestive walks in the moonlight in the Archaeological excavations of Ercolano.

Guided tours will be held every Wednesday and Sunday and retrace the hours before the devastating eruption of Vesuvius, which buried the city under a blanket of ashes and lava, reaping numerous victims.

With the aid of the virtual installations edited by Virtual Archaeological Museum of Ercolano, some of the ones will be shown houses finest of the ancient Herculaneum. The route will begin by descending along the Rampa Martusciello up to the Fornici, vaulted rooms open towards the sea where the petrified skeletons of those who tried to escape were found.

The evening will end in the Suburban Baths, where theactor Luca Iervolino will play Pliny the Younger, direct witness of the tragic event and which will be remembered with a performance of theater, music and light games.
