Naples is a city of a thousand facets, including the complexity of its public transport system often subject to difficulties. Luckily the introduction of new trains on the Metro Line 1 is starting to bear fruit, with shorter waiting times than before.
It's true, there is still a lot of work to do but, at least on this front, the step is positive. Now we need to instill in Neapolitans the idea of abandon private vehicles and rely more on the public transport service, but how can we do it?
A further innovation is about to be activated in order to streamline things: it is MaaS4Naples, an innovative platform that offers economic benefits to its users.
What is MaaS4Naples?
MaaS4Naples, an acronym for “Mobility as a Service for Naples”, is an integrated digital platform which aims to simplify urban mobility.
allows access to different forms of public transport through a single user interface, with the added benefit of cashback on tickets purchased.
How do I receive cashback?
After logging into the application, each purchased ticket generates cashback points, or an economic incentive that encourages the use of the services offered by the platform.
The incentives are valid for multimodal travel only and/or multi-operator, which include at least one Local Public Transport route.
What is multimodal travel?
It is all trips involving the use of more than one type of transport during a single trip.
For example, a journey might start with a bus numbers, continue with a train and end with a bike-sharing service instead a trip via a single transport service is not subject to cashback.
How much are the refunds?
The refund amount is calculated as 50% of the value of trips taken. This means that, over time, constant use of the platform can lead to significant savings.
The monthly bonus, in the form of cashback, will be paid for a maximum of €30,00 per month. This amount it will be canceled at the end of the month for the amount not used in the reference month therefore the credits cannot be cumulated.
Do you receive money or cashback in credit?
The cashback is not provided in the form of cash but as credit within the application. This credit can be used to purchase securities in whole or even only in part thus reducing its cost.
What are the requirements to participate?
The requirements to use the service are minimal: in general it is sufficient to be an adult, to be a citizen of the metropolitan area of the City of Naples and to have access to a smartphone. In this way, MaaS4Naples is accessible to a wide range of users.
To be eligible for cashback, participants must provide personal data as required by law, they must not have disputes with the Municipality and must be up to date with local tax payments (IMU, Waste Tax, etc.)
Here are the personal data requested:
- Name and surname
- Place and date of birth
- Residence/domicile
- POSTAL CODE
- Tax Code
- E-mail address
- Phone number
- Profession
- Specific conditions (e.g. motor disabilities, parent with young children, etc.)
What is the deadline for applications?
The incentives are available untilexhaustion of the resources allocated by the MaaS4Naples Operational Plan, and requests can be sent by 3 November 2023. The project is part of the broader "MaaS4Italy", included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
Incentives will be paid in chronological order and until reaching 1000 experimenters. Once this number is exceeded, new experimenters will be accepted with reserve.
How to participate?
To join the initiative, interested parties must fill out an online form available on the institutional website of the Municipality. After registration, you need to plan your trip through one of the participating official apps: UnicoCampania, MooneyGo and MaaS4UNI.
