The art magazine Artribune has named the Madre Museum of Naples "Best museum in Italy 2013"

That of the Mother Museum of Naples could be counted among the success stories of our city. Everyone remembers that, in recent years and until just over a year ago, the contemporary art museum located inside the Donnaregina Foundation in via Settembrini, has risked several times the closure, due to lack of funds from the Campania Region.

No one would have ever imagined that the only place used to permanently house a collection of contemporary art on the constant brink of bankruptcy, would have managed to win the title of Museum of the Year 2013. It was the online magazine dedicated to the world of art Artribune to confer this important recognition to the Mother Museum, which in the space of a year has changed management, has undergone a restyling of forms and contents, and has “opened up” even more to visitors and to the city of Naples.

Artribune rewards, in particular, the "Notable relaunch" that the president of the Donnaregina foundation Pierpaolo Forte and the director of the Museum Andrea Viliani have set up, “When all hope was lost”.

To date, the Mother Museum of Naples it houses a permanent and “in progress” collection made up of works by the most famous contemporary artists, such as Warhol, Boetti, Kaprow, Sol Lewitt, Paladino, Kounellis, Jeff Koons and many others. It also regularly hosts exhibitions and temporary exhibitions who spread the works and style of emerging contemporary artists to Naples and Campania. Furthermore, like the most modern art museums in the most avant-garde cities of the world, also in the Madre Museum there are often cultural meetings and debates, appointments dedicated to children and families and special events to better involve visitors in a new experience. and in a new contact with art.

Also awarded the Alfonso Artiaco Gallery, creator and founder of a gallery located in piazzetta Nilo in Palazzo de Sangro di Vietri, considered by Artribune “Best art gallery in the national territory".

Two awards that a city like Naples deserves, so that initiatives and activities related to contemporary art are encouraged here too.
