Unesco recognizes the art of the Neapolitan pizza maker as an Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Celebrations with free pizzas at the Napoli Pizza Village in Piazza del Gesù
Il 14 December 2017 is the day dedicated to the celebrations for the great milestone reached by theArt of Neapolitan pizza makers, finally recognized Intangible Heritage of Humanity by Unesco.
To celebrate this art there will be free pizzas with the event "Napoli Pizza Village & Friends for the Unesco-Special Edition"In Piazza del Gesù. The event is organized by Naples Pizza Village, with the Patronage of the City of Naples and the Univerde Foundation. The celebrations will start at 11: 00 with free pizzas and the participation of the Neapolitan pizza makers and of the ovens that made the history of pizza and made the Napoli Pizza Village event great.
The path to obtain the recognition was very long and is closely linked to the event. In fact it was right at Naples Pizza Village 2014 edition that Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio proposed a collection of signatures that went around the world and in three years reached 2 million subscriptions, demonstrating the power and diffusion of this art. Pizza is one of the most loved foods and which distinguishes the city of Naples and for this reason the art of Neapolitan pizza makers must be protected and recognized as a World Heritage Site.
The celebrations have already started the 6 December 2017 when the UNESCO Commission gathered in South Korea announced the appointment and is expected to continue until the next edition of Naples Pizza Village scheduled from 1 to 10 June 2018.
