The picturesque village of Ogliara, a charming fraction of the Municipality of Salerno, is the seat of the annual "Ogliara in Bloom - the Infiorata of Salerno". The 2023 edition yes will take place on 10 and 11 June, marking the twelfth year of this artistic expression of vivid beauty.
The birth of the event
Originated in 2010, theInfiorata of Salerno was conceived as one unique cultural event from the youth group of the association “The bell tower of Ogliara”. What began almost as a pleasure has evolved into an appealing yearly tradition visitors from all over the region. The event coincides with the celebration of the Solemnity of Corpus Domini, a moment in which the glittering carpets of flowers adorn the streets of Ogliara, transforming the small village into a palette of colours.
The event originated with a modest floral carpet of 2 by 2 meters. But over time, the sizes of flower carpets have increased, becoming more complex and involving the whole community.
Ogliara in Bloom it has become a moment of community celebration, marking a gathering point for local residents and an attraction for outside visitors.
Il 2015 marked a turning point for the Infiorata of Salerno with the Participation to the prestigious Historical Infiorata in Rome. Since then, the event has gained national recognition, participating in “Infioritalia” in 2015, at the Pietra Ligure International Gathering in 2016 and at the Palinuro National Gathering in 2017. These successes have allowed the flower masters of Ogliara to experiment with new themes, not limited to religious ones, and to extend their art to civil, public or private events.
What will be seen at the 2023 event
Today, the celebration of the Solemnity of Corpus Domini in Ogliara sees the creation of impressive floral carpets that cover 700 square meters of streets, using a total of 300.000 flower stalks. This fascinating artistic event continues to grow, keeping local traditions alive and celebrating the natural beauty of the village of Ogliara.
