Tax peace: files canceled under 1000 euros, 80% cut

The so-called tax respite is increasingly concrete and is taking shape in a very drastic measure: the cut of the tax bills issued up to 2016 with an amount not exceeding € 1000, but that's not all.

The Lega proposal wants to go further, exempting debtors from paying a large portion of the outstanding tax bills, there is also talk of 80% of the total, while Fratelli d'Italia pushes for a lower percentage: 50% (which always little is not).

A tax amnesty is coming? Maybe something similar

Not a real amnesty in words, it seems that we are discussing a “discount, but in fact we are talking about a measure that will not have the name of the amnesty, but certainly the perfume.

The cancellation will most likely take place automatically for all folders under € 1000 notified prior to 2016. Money that therefore the Revenue Agency will not see, but which make up a large part of the folders currently pending.

For folders between € 1000 and € 3000 there is a strong discount and excerpt

The question arises: what will become of all the cards over 1000 €? For those with a ceiling of € 3000, a balance and excerpt will be provided, i.e. only part of the tax bill is paid and it is closed.

There is indecision on the percentages, Fratelli d'Italia pushes for 50% while the Lega asks to go up to an 80% cut.

In any case, the penalties and interest will not be included in the discount and will be fully paid.

Above € 3000 no discount, but there is talk of a strong installment

No cuts for amounts above € 3000, those that most likely weigh on the family budget. It will only be possible to pay the debt in installments but with an increase that will range from 5% to 10%, excluding interest and penalties.

There is talk of extending this possibility to folders after 2016 as well.

How many tax bills are currently active and what are the amounts?

A precise estimate is not available, but we know the number of pending folders is between 130 and 140 million and only folders from 2000 onwards are included in the count.

As for the amounts, half of the folders in question are precisely for amounts of less than € 1000, therefore a truly remarkable slice. If the average amount were € 500, we would be giving a clean sweep on 37,5 billion of debt.
