Il Marinella park is reborn, finally the expanse of waste that occupied 12 square meters has been removed, we are talking about the equivalent of 100 apartments or about two football fields the size of Maradona.

As explained by Vincenzo Santagada, the municipal councilor for Green in Naples, the piles of rubbish accumulated over the years covered 40% of the 30 square meters of the area between via Vespucci and the port, in short, a real open-air landfill which fortunately no longer exists.

The excavators found themselves faced with a truly unpleasant scenario, they lifted tons of waste from the ground including tyres, piles of mattresses, clothes and a lot of plastic as well as the presence of special waste, and this precisely caused a slowdown in the operation.

Once all the waste has been removed, soil analyzes and final remediation will take place.

What the project foresees

The project, which will cost 5 million resources from the Cohesion and Development Fund to which extra funds of 1,5 million euros will then be added, will be completed, it is hoped, by September 2023.

It will include the construction, in an area close to the reclamation, of a refreshment point, the installation of an electrical system in the area, the completion of the boundary walls with iron works and lava stone cladding.

Then there will be tree-lined avenues, floral essences, an agora with steps and fountains with water features. Three entrances are also planned, one of which will be located behind the Carmine bastion along the paving of the old via della Marinella.
