The spring temperatures of the past few days have already contributed to creating the atmosphere that is usually breathed in our city in the period of Easter. In fact, one of the happiest celebrations of the year is about to arrive (Easter Sunday will be held on April 20) and Naples is preparing to welcome it to the fullest, involving citizens and tourists in interesting initiatives.

One of these is the Easter Fair at the Decumani, now in its second edition this year, and to be held from Saturday 29 March to 1 May 2014. The inauguration of the fair, organized byAssociazione Corpo di Napoli - Onlus, will be held on 29 March at 11: 30 in Piazza San Gaetano, in the heart of the Ancient Center. On this occasion there will be an exhibition of Neapolitan classical music with the musical group “La Posteggia dei Decumani”.

Neapolitan cribs for the Easter Fair at the Decumani 2014

At the center of the Easter Fair at the Decumani will be thenativity art, one of the most typical craft activities of our city, and the entire event will be dedicated to all the "Invisibles" of the city of Naples. The theme of the 2014 edition of this fair, that last year reached three hundred thousand appearances, Sara: “A millenary emotion; the Ancient Center of Naples tells its story ”.

Visitors can admire the "Easter nativity scene", an exclusively Neapolitan, artistic and devotional tradition, abandoned since the 2013th century but which the crib artisans of Via San Gregorio Armeno, Via dei Tribunali and Spaccanapoli, have brought back to life since XNUMX. They will therefore be exhibited handmade creations inspired by the episodes of Christian Easter, like the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus, but also figures and elements belonging to the classic Neapolitan crib tradition.

La Easter Fair at the Decumani will provide three ways of using the event, suitable for every "taste":

  • paths of art and popular devotion in the historic crib shops;
  • the rediscovery of the "Ancient Easter flavors", with tastings of typical Neapolitan products such as pastiera and Casatiello or limoncello in trattorias, pizzerias, pastry shops and shops;
  • exhibitions, shows of sacred music and traveling folk, in a "surprise" program that will be revealed from time to time, on weekends, until the close of May 1st.

Easter is thus part of the regular appointments of the City of Naples, a new opportunity to involve tourists and citizens among the historical and artistic beauties of our city by offering them a trip in our culinary and craft traditions.
