La Infrastructure Commission of the Municipality of Naples, with the presidency of Nino Simone, discussed the arrangement of the new metro line 1 stations in our city, completing a agreement between the Municipality of Naples, the Campania Region and EAV.
Let's talk specifically about the accommodation of stations of Piscinola, Miano, Regina Margherita, Secondigliano and Di Vittorio which will allow for the extension of underground line 1, closing the ring and connecting the airport, port and city. In addition, the connection between line 1 and the Aversa-Giugliano rainbow line, i.e. the MetroCampania NordEst.
These decisions are the result of an intense work of discussion and collaboration between the institutions of the city and the Region which will make it possible to increase the livability of our areas.
A new cycle path and new green areas
During the session, the other interventions that will be made within this project were also discussed. Let's talk about:
- a new cycle path;
- new road arrangements;
- 15 thousand hectares of green areas;
- 15 thousand square meters of public utility facilities;
- minor works in the municipalities.
It was specified that for the Piazza Di Vittorio station there will be no direct entrance from the square, but the one from viale Umberto Maddalena will be used. Furthermore, the green areas will not be built in the square, but in the surrounding areas.
There will also be many installations in the areas near the stations:
- in Miano there will be a car park, a park and facilities for services;
- in Secondigliano the Alifana area will be redeveloped and an auditorium is planned. In addition, Enel will install a new substation to improve the electricity supply for the entire northern area
The works will be divided into two tranches
The works for the extension of the subway will be divided into two parts:
- the first relates to stations of Miano, Regina Margherita and Secondigliano, up to the connection with Aversa. The works will be finished within one month from the start of the works. By the first 6 months of 2025 they should enter the pre-exercise phase. Funds from the PNRR will be used;
- the second will serve a close the metro line 1 ring, with the station of Di Vittorio and the connection with the station of Acerra of the High Speed. Two depots will also be built: one in Piscinola, for the storage of trains and for first-level maintenance, and one in Giugliano as a workshop. The Region is looking for new sources of financing.
