Long minutes of panic on Plain-Vomero connection in Naples this morning Wednesday 19 October 2022 because a boy tried to jump off the bridge, thus trying to commit suicide.
On the connection between Pianura and Vomero, the young man, from around 8.00 this morning, he is threatening to take his own life, even if the causes of this extreme will so dramatic are not known.
Of course they were alert the police who immediately rushed to the spot trying to make the boy desist from his crazy gesture.
Traffic blocked throughout the area
The junction that connects Pianura and Vomero is a strategic stretch of the city and the situation that occurred this morning immediately sent haywire. The cars are blocked and it was closed the access ramp of via Montagna Spaccata, a very busy road itself at rush hour.
It seems the boy has given up, then, and has decided not to launch, but we will follow further updates as soon as we become aware of them.
Update of 20 October, stationary situation and traffic on tilt again
Update at 13:00: the 48-year-old man is still on the bridge, so he has not yet given up on his gesture, unlike what was said this morning. A psychologist also arrived on site, after a failed approach by the fire brigade. He is trying to reason and reassure him.
Traffic continues to be congested in the area.

13 hours: 00: firefighters' approach failed: apparently a firefighter tried to approach with the ladder, but the man, seeing the attempt, made the gesture to jump. The ladder was immediately withdrawn!
13 hours: 55: the firemen open the inflatable and the man begins to walk away on the edge of the bridge!
14 hours: 03: fatigue is felt, the man after 7 hours standing kneels on the edge of the bridge. The situation is becoming more and more critical.
At 15.01 the man was taken by the Fire Brigade who grabbed him from an opening in the grate! He was entrusted to the care of 118 and will be taken to the emergency room at the Ospedale del Mare.

Apparently the man is still there more than 24 hours from the start. Various attempts by the police and firefighters, but all in vain.
The man also does not allow the brigade to mount the protective sheet, threatening to jump if he sees suspicious activity at the foot of the ramp.
Traffic is blocked again due to this event, with the ramp closing again today.
