After many years, several stolen works have been found from a series of he asked of Naples, during the 80s or even earlier, finds that will finally be returned to the places they belonged to. Among these, a very precious polychrome marble from the XNUMXth century, stolen between 1994 and 1995 in the Church of Sant'Aniello in Caponapoli and that was found even in Florida in the house of an Italian American.

The man, who defined himself as a practicing Christian, did not create problems, on the contrary he manifested his own happiness in returning the work as he was absolutely unaware that it had been stolen. Therefore, the marble will finally be able to return to the Church of Sant'Aniello in Caponapoli.

The other works stolen and found

During the investigation of the Nucleo for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, part of the Carabinieri, other stolen works were also found. Figure a painting of the Holy Trinity which will go to the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli. It was stolen from the Church of Pizzofalcone in the 80s after it was closed due to the earthquake.

Instead, one will be returned to the Church of the Gesù and Maria polychrome marble pilaster with floral and plant decorations, 3 meters long, stolen byaltar which was practically dismembered. The theft always took place in the 80s after the earthquake, when the church was closed due to unusability and became the subject of a real looting. In fact, other furnishings are also missing, not yet found.

In addition, the Carabinieri will also return two important works to the ABAP superintendent of Naples: two XNUMXth-century paintings depicting "The Annunciation"and "Dream of St. Joseph“, Stolen on 17 October 1969 from the Church of San Severino and San Sossio.

Finally, they were also found in a deposit in Via Foria 4 works of art, including a wooden statue of the '600 stolen in 1973 from the State Museum Le Prieure Du Vieux in Nice.
