Festivals in Campania dedicated to Carnival at the weekend, between chatter and wine, and a fun race with cheese!
In the weekend before the conclusion of the 2016 Carnival, there are several festivals in Campania that whet the appetite and curiosity. In the weekend from 5 to 7 February, each of these parties will offer us above all typical foods of the festival, waiting for the greedy Shrove Tuesday.
For example, in Limatola the famous will parade allegorical wagons made in the country, but you can also taste the dishes of the place. In Paternopoli, on the other hand, everything will be dedicated to street food, thanks to the skill of the chefs who will cook traditional dishes, using only quality raw materials.
Do not miss the fun Cheese Ruzzola in Benevento, with large shapes that will roll in the streets of the town, and the famous Gesualdino Carnival with lots of music and fun.
Carnival of Limatola
Limatola is always the destination of hundreds of visitors for its engaging initiatives, such as the Christmas markets and the Carnival event. For this second occasion, in the town it is possible to attend the beautiful parades of allegorical floats, colorful and festive, but also to taste the many local products. You can taste the typical dishes of the Samnite gastronomy and local wines, having fun with the shows of the buskers, folkloric dances, folk songs and entertainment for children. Also interesting is the Masked competition in which to win many prizes.

Irpinia StreEat Mood Carnival
Winter appointment in Paternopoli with the Irpinia StreEat Mood, the event that has revolutionized the way of doing street food. The Ruzzola Cheese
Ancient and traditional game typical of various municipalities of Campania and this weekend will take place in the town of Pontelandolfo. Its origins are very old and presumably date back to the Ciociare populations in the 1300. Teams composed by the citizens of the country try to cross the finish line for primi throwing large forms of cheese, with a string called zagaglia, making them tumble until the end of the route. The winning team will be the one that manages to get the cheese with the fewer launches. The prize will be just the cheese.

Gesualdino Carnival
In addition to the well-known Living Nativity, Gesualdo also organizes a large Carnival party that always attracts many visitors. On the weekend, and on Shrove Tuesday, the typical allegorical parade will take place with colored floats and masked groups, but many local products and will also be tasted original delicacies. In the evening there will be fun with music and folkloristic entertainment.
