At Easter 2015 the Archaeological Excavations of Pompeii will be open for free and will also be open on Easter Monday

The Special Superintendency for Pompeii, Herculaneum and Stabia reported that the Pompeii excavations will remain also open on Sunday 5 April 2015, Easter day.

Because this anniversary will fall on the first Sunday of the month, which according to the initiative Sunday at the museum the offer free admission to the cultural places of every typology, also the excavations of Pompeii will be freely visited. Monday in Albis, instead, Easter Monday, admission will be subject to payment.

The excavations of Pompeii arouse considerable interest and one great tourist turnout because it is an archaeological site that has returned the remains of the ancient city of Pompeii, buried by a devastating eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. C. They represent a slice of life during the period of the Romans, who transformed Pompeii into a thriving commercial city thanks to the sale of wine and agricultural products.

During the visit you can admire houses with everyday objects, the craft shops, the baths, the Forum, the temples, the amphitheater, frescoes, mosaics but especially bodies petrified by the lava that submerged them while doing normal activities or trying to escape to save themselves.

The place is so suggestive that Mozart, after having seen the temple of Isis, composed The Magic Flute.
