Everything was ready for a strike of 24 hours which would have involved the entire day of 27th November, but things took an unexpected turn.
The intervention of Minister Salvini's minister precepted the strike, forcing the unions to reduce it to 4 hours, therefore the strike organized by USB it turned into a much shorter protest.

Much of the national strike was postponed to December in order to guarantee a total stop and the right to strike, while some sectors still joined the prescribed strike.

Stop times and warranty periods

Instead of a full day of inconvenience, workers will fold their arms just to 4 hours, from 09: 00 to 13: 00. This change is no small change, especially for those who rely on public services every day, but it is certainly less of an inconvenience than the 24-hour stoppage.

It is not yet clear why EAV joined the 4-hour strike instead of the postponement to December, the company has not communicated anything.

What are the reasons for the strike

Here is an overview of the reasons behind this protest:

  • Blocking of tariff increases: a clear request to keep services accessible.
  • Entry wages for new hires: exceed the current low threshold, to guarantee more equitable pay.
  • Safety at work: a non-negotiable priority for those who dedicate themselves to public service every day.
  • Cleaning and maintenance: fundamental elements for the quality of the services offered.
  • Procurement and subcontracting criteria: a question of transparency and fairness.
  • Guaranteed minimum wage: to ensure a dignified standard of living for all workers.
  • Free exercise of the right to strike: a defense of fundamental rights in essential services.
  • Representation Act: to overcome the current monopolistic dynamics.

In these few hours of strike, workers' voices will be raised to demand significant change, against the direction the Government is taking. A short but intense moment of protest, with the aim of making their message heard loud and clear.
