Ancient games of all kinds at the exhibition Stories of toys at the Convent of San Domenico Maggiore in Naples!
From the 8 December at 19 March 2017 al Convent of San Domenico Maggiore in Naples will be set up exhibition “Stories of toys. From the eighteenth century to Barbie ".
Through the exhibition of over a thousand small masterpieces of Toy Museum of Naples of Sister Orsola Benincasa, collected by Vincenzo Capuano, we will be able to take a historical excursus into the play world.
The exhibition will be divided into thematic and chronological areas, with theexposure of automata, dame, puffin, bears, puppets, wooden toys, theaters, board games, military, space, tin toys, cars, fantasy toys, trains.
Thematic areas
Barbie
The section is dedicated to the idol of all girls, which represents an artistic creation and is a symbol of fashion and elegance. A rare and rich catalog of objects and furnishing furniture for miniature houses, on the evolution of the doll through the centuries.
Tin toys
In this section we will admire rides, trains, spinning tops, beach games and fantasy, Carette's marvelous cars, Günthermann clowns and Ferdinand Martin's small automata.
Puppets and Characters
A glimpse of the world of teddy bears and gnomes, from Pinocchi and Fortunelli, Mr. Bonaventura and Topolino, Donald and Disney family to complete up to our Pulcinella.
Wooden toys
An entire sector dedicated to the ancient puppet and puppet theaters.
Giochi da Tavolo
Beloved by young and old, we will see classic games like the game of Goose, Risiko or Monopoly, chess and dame. We will also find a collection of rare and ancient hand-painted tarot cards.
Military toys
They contain universal values: courage, love of the country, military expertise, even though violence in reality, overwhelming too often take the upper hand. For this reason we ask ourselves about the limit of use and the formative value of war games.
A wonderful experience dedicated to the memories of a magical universe.
Carnival
During the Carnival a party will be organized with confetti, streamers, masks, games and the funny baby dance. The children can also eat the traditional black pudding and listen to the history of the Carnival through 4 tales.
