The San Carlo Theater in Naples wins the second place in the “10 Opera Houses” ranking drawn up by National Geographic

Il National Geographic has drawn up the ranking of the best "10 Opera Houses" (Opera Houses) in the world, taken from the book "10 Best of Everything" published by the famous American magazine.

To win the second place in the ranking, after the La Scala Theater in Milan but long before the Sidney Opera House or the Paris Opera, we find "our" Teatro San Carlo, which can boast of being the oldest still functioning theater in Europe, built in 1737, by the will of King Charles III of Bourbon with the aim of giving the city a new theater that would represent the royal power.

The Neapolitan lyric is described by National Geographic as a "Red and golden theater", considered "The most prestigious theater in Italy" until the realization of La Scala in Milan, 41 years later. "On its stage the most famous works of Gioacchino Rossini were represented for the first time".
