Teatro San Carlo, presented for the 2023/2024 season

The eagerly awaited theater season the prestigious Teatro di San Carlo will kick off on December 9 with the famous work Turandot di Giacomo Puccini. The protagonist will be the American soprano Sondra Radvanovsky, while the musical direction will be entrusted to Dan Ettinger, with the direction of Vasily Barkhatov.

A varied program including opera, dance and concerts

La 2023-24 season, announced by Superintendent and artistic director Stéphane Lissner, will be divided into twelve operas, six new productions, four ballets, sixteen concerts, the third edition of the Piano Festival and the chamber music review. Among the world-renowned artists involved, Anna Netrebko, Yusif Eyvazov, Elīna Garanča and Nadine Sierra stand out.

A billboard full of female titles and international debuts

Lissner stressed the importance of female titles in programming, with works such as Norma, Luisa Miller, Elektra and Carmen. The season is characterized by a cultural offer that unites tradition and innovation, very high professionalism and ability to disseminate and charm.

The involvement of big names on the international music scene

During the presentation, Dan Ettinger and star Jonas Kaufmann explained the program. Businessman will be the star of well three appointments: Ponchielli's Mona Lisa, a gala dedicated to cinema and a concert with Ludovic Tèzier on duets by Verdi, Puccini and Ponchielli.

The ballet season and the Piano Festival

La ballet season will continue the itinerary of maturation and technical and artistic improvement of the corps de ballet wanted by the director Clotilde Vayer, alternating famous masterpieces of the dance of all time with more contemporary choreography. Also, the third edition of the Piano Festival will be held in May 2024 with the participation of four internationally renowned virtuosos, starting with Grigory Sokolov.

The San Carlo Theater as a cultural symbol of southern Italy

With this programming, the Teatro di San Carlo confirms itself as a world reference point for bel canto, with the ability to attract audiences even from distant countries and to represent the cultural symbol par excellence of southern Italy.

  4. Evening of "French" dance with a choreography by Serge Lifar

Furthermore, the third edition of the Piano Festival will be held in May 2024.
