The prestigious Villa dei Misteri di Pompei will finally reopen to the world more beautiful than ever!

The next 20 March 2015, the beautiful Villa of the Mysteries of Pompeii, completely restored and refurbished, will reopen its doors to citizens and to the world.

The marvelous residence, guardian of the famous frescoes of the "Dionysian mysteries", was closed to the public in May 2013 to allow the restoration and maintenance works financed by the Superintendency.

The interventions were mainly conducted on the delicate paintings belonging to the walls and floors of the over 90 rooms that make up the famous Pompeian residence, conceived as a house destined for the rest of the patrician families, and later became an agricultural center for the production of wine.

Two years, these, in which the villa has been opened in sections, to allow tourists and citizens to visit at least a part of it. Two years of waiting suffered, which have seen several obstacles due to the extreme fragility of the decorations, also recently endangered by the bad weather that has occurred in recent weeks.

This risk has irremediably led to postponing the reopening of the house, initially set for 20 February 2015. After 24 interminable months and only 30 days late, finally one of the assets more precious and prestigious of humanity we will be returned.
