From 13 January 2018, every Saturday and Sunday the visit of the Museum of the Underworld of Naples led by the Munaciello with the Flying Carpet production.
Il Munaciello is one of the oldest figures in Naples whose fame is linked to popular legends born around this small and deformed little spirit that wanders among the ancient buildings dressed in a monk's black and white dress to hide his physical appearance.
È kind to someone, spiteful to others and he was born of a thwarted love and for this he is vindictive. In reality it is thought that the munaciello was the ancient manager of the water wells (the "pozzaro“), Figures who were not paid by their clients and“ took their revenge ”by entering the homes of the Lords, stealing precious objects. These objects were then donated by the pozzari to their lovers in whose houses they sneaked through the canals to lower the bucket.
But the munaciello of the Museo del Sottosuolo is good and knows the secrets of this mysterious place and will accompany us to their discovery.
