The truck drivers ' strike , initially called for Monday, March 14 , was blocked by the Guarantee Commission . The strike called for a national stoppage of trucks , and its announcement had caused no small amount of panic among people who rushed to the supermarket.

The strike suspension follows the Guarantee Commission 's decision to dismiss the workers' " failure to comply with the 25-day notice period ." The notice therefore calls for the collective action to be revoked , with the risk of initiating an evaluation procedure.

Therefore, the fear of a stop to the distribution of basic necessities that was spreading in the last few hours precisely because of the expected strike seems to stop.

However, there remain problems linked to the increase in petrol prices , also due to the Ukraine-Russia conflict, and consequently to the possible unavailability of some food products.
