Don Quichotte du Trocadéro opens the Napoli Teatro Festival 2013
From the 6 to the 23 June will host the sixth edition of Naples Theater Festival, and the show chosen to open the most important theatrical festival nationally is Don Quichotte du Trocadéro, a choreography of José Montalvo that will be staged on 4 June at 20: 30 at the Teatro San Carlo.
José Montalvo is an internationally renowned French artist who mixes various genres of dance in his very particular choreographic writing, from classical to contemporary, from hip hop to flamenco, from African dances to the circus, creating scenic works of great visual impact due above all to the relationship that it is created, on the stage, between real and virtual.
In his choreography, in fact, makes dancers dance in flesh and bone with video projections, transmitting in the viewer the enigmatic taste of discovering what is real on the scene and what is not. His shows are fun and cheerful, rhythmic and engaging, and Don Quichotte du Trocadéro fully respects this spirit.
Montalvo was inspired by the famous work of Cervantes and the classic ballet by Petipa to mount a choreography«Which compares the grammar of the gesture of the commedia dell'arte with the corporal practices of contemporary urban dance».
On stage, in addition to the dancers, the comic actor will also be present Patrice Thibaud, "a poet, an acrobat, a trapeze artist of laughter» that goes well with the comic side of the character of Don Quixote who, according to Montalvo, is «the first great modern novel that dips the pen in burlesque ink».
