Discovering the palaces, churches, museums and other historical places of Naples with the FAI Marathon 2015 initiative

The initiative of the Italian Ambiete Fund is back, FAI Marathon and, for the 2015 edition, for the first time the events will be entrusted to the young people of the FAI.

It will take place throughout Italy 18 October 2015 and of course also Napoli will be involved with events, itineraries and guided tours in the cultural places more interesting than its rich historical and archaeological heritage. As with any edition, members of the FAI will be able to enjoy some facilitations, while contributing to the cause for the redevelopment of the Italian historical heritage.

What is FAI Marathon

The FAI Marathon is a project born in 2012, in collaboration with the Lotto Game, and it is a national event to support the fundraising campaign "Let's remember to save Italy". The initiative, whose full name is "FAImarathon. With the Gioco del Lotto and the FAI, an Autumn FAI Day to discover a different Italy“, Provides a series of views with free contribution in 130 Italian cities that participate with more than 500 sites open.
Special events are also planned and, thanks to the collaboration of thousands of volunteers, the artistic, landscape and social heritage of our cities will be highlighted even more. The visits include entries also in churches, courtyards, palaces, gardens e theaters normally little or even not at all accessible to the public.

Cabinet of the Duke
Palazzo Saluzzo di Corigliano - Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, 12

On the second floor of the headquarters of the University of Oriental Studies of Naples, is a palace of rococo taste completely covered with mirrors. It is enriched by allegorical figures made by Bartolomeo Granucci.

Casa Giuseppe Zevola

Open exclusively for FAI members, it was the home of the Neapolitan painter, poet and philosopher Giuseppe Zevola. You can admire baroque mirrors and family furniture and the depiction of Philosophy personified by a woman with numerous drawers in her belly, symbols of knowledge. Church of San Giovanni in Carbonara

La Church of San Giovanni a Carbonara, founded in 1343 is one of the most important in Naples and stands on a staircase at the foot of which is the entrance to the lower church of the Baroque period, Consolazione a Carbonoara. The Lazzaretto room in the former Peace Hospital

The works of art of Nathalie de Saint Phalle

A writer of French origin living in Naples since 1993, Nathalie de Saint Phalle has created a place of art in two apartments in the Palazzo Spinelli in Laurino, frequented by national and international artists. You can admire the collection of Ph, catalogs, books, musical instruments and other works, in addition to the headquarters of a virtual collector, where the works are placed "in storage" by artists including Giuseppe Zevola, John Giorno and Beatrice Caracciolo.

Palazzo Venezia

Open to all for guided tours, the Palace was Donato by King Ladislaus I in 1512 to the Serenissima Republic of Venice as a residence for the consuls general in Naples. Park of King Ladislaus

It is a garden of extreme historical importance attached to the Church of San Giovanni a Carbonara. Aranci, medlar, lemons, apricot trees e vine they enrich it and it was cultivated by the monks.
