The third edition of the World Pizzaiuolo Day is celebrated in Naples: pizzas for the less fortunate and the traditional lighting of focarone are scheduled!
January 17, 2021 we celebrate the appointment with World Pizzaiuolo Day, an anniversary established in 2018 and which for three years now coincides with the traditional feast of Sant'Antonio Abate.
This holiday was strongly desired by theNeapolitan Pizzaiuoli Association and obviously the choice to make this day coincide with the feast of Sant'Antonio is not accidental, as the latter is the holy protector of fire and protector of pizza makers and bakers.
The lighting of the traditional focarone
This year due to the complicated situation following thehealth emergency from Coronavirus, many entertainment and entertainment events will not be able to take place, but the Neapolitan Pizzaiuoli Association will not give uplighting of the traditional focarone at 19:00 outside the headquarters of the APN, in Naples, in via Michele Parise.
In fact, according to the Sant'Antonio tradition it frees the population from evils and suffering, lighting the fire is nothing more than an auspicious tradition, with the hope that the saint can also free ourselves from Covid.
The pizza makers then, starting from hours 17:00, will be engaged in preparation of 300 pizzas, which will be delivered the same evening to voluntary and charity associations of the city.
The pizzas will be delivered to the poor through the'Locomotive Association and Panaroo App platform rider.

- At 10:30 am Holy Mass for pizza makers in the Basilica of Santa Chiara
- At 11 am Delivery of the figurines of the Apn pizza makers to those who contributed to the realization of the Presepium installed in the Basilica of Santa Chiara
- At 17:00 at the headquarters of the APN, preparation of 300 pizzas for the poor and needy
- At 19:00 the lighting of the focarone
