The Swan Lake and Il Corsaro will be staged at the San Carlo Theater in Naples.
As part of "Autumn Dance", the review dedicated to the art of Terpsichorea from San Carlo Theater of Naples, 7 and 8 November 2016 will be on Swan Lake e The Corsair.
The two extraordinary classical ballets will have three exceptional performers: Iana Salenko, Daniil Simkin and Giuseppe Picone, flanked by the Corps de Ballet of the Teatro di San Carlo.
Swan Lake is inspired by an ancient German fairy tale and the swans are actually girls who are under the effect of a spell until dawn. One of them, Odette, makes a prince fall in love who, realizing the drama, tries to save her, but a storm hits the lake and her waters swallow the two lovers. Finally on the lake, once again calm, a group of white swans appears in high flight.
The Corsair is a Verdi melodrama whose protagonist is Corrado, a corsair in exile with his beloved Medora on an Aegean island, who, tired of his imprisonment, decides to leave to defeat the hated Pasha Seid in Corone.
Conrad, in disguise, bursts into the middle of the party, fighting against Seid, while his corsairs attempt to set fire to the Ottoman ships. But the enterprise fails and Corrado is sentenced to death.
Gulnàra, however, falling in love with him, kills Seid during the night and frees him but when the two return to the island they discover that Medora, on the false news that her beloved was dead, has poisoned herself. Desperate Corrado commits suicide by jumping off the cliff.
The two works will go on stage as a diptych in both evenings.
