The history of the Palinuro ship
Il beautiful sailing ship is a training ship of the Italian Navy which is generally used for non-commissioned officer students who attend the normal marshals course of the non-commissioned officers school of Taranto, but also for students of the Francesco Morosini naval military school of Venice.
Fu launched in 1934 in France, but in 1951 it was bought by Italy who wanted to place it alongside the beautiful Amerigo Vespucci, considered the most beautiful ship in the world, and was immediately used as a training ship and it was on that occasion that she was called Palinuro, in honor of the well-known helmsman of the Aeneid.
It is a wonderful sailing ship and has traveled at least during its activity 300 thousand nautical miles and participated in prestigious gatherings of ships and boats. When it docks off our Gulf it is always admired with great amazement.
