The tradition of wood collection

Bonfire Night is an event that has been repeated for years and is coming passed down from generation to generation. It all started with collection of dry wood in Nusco on December 13th, the day on which Saint Lucia is celebrated. In ancient times, wood was donated by the faithful as a vow and homage to Saint Anthony.

Subsequently, the logs were placed in front of the houses and set on fire. Finally, tradition wanted citizens to bring back a part of the bonfire in the form of ash in the house and that this ash was then scattered in the fields, a gesture to make the soil even more fertile and productive.

It will therefore be a magical night, in which you will be able to witness, according to tradition, theignition of the purifying fire to pay homage to the figure of the Saint. There will be no shortage of fun with popular music, guided tours and the opportunity to taste the typical products of this land.
