The Franciscan Libraries of Naples and its province open to the public, organizing exhibitions and concerts

The BFrancescane libraries of the monastery of S.Chiara in Naples, of the Convent of San Vito in Marigliano and of the Basilica of S. Antonio ad Afragola will be open to the public until 14 June 2015.

The project was implemented thanks to the Bonaventura cultural association, the contribution of the Campania Region and the Neapolitan Province SS. Heart of Jesus Order of the Friars Minor.

The three libraries will propose exhibitions and concerts of classical and popular music, as a tribute to the ancient Naples. Visitors can admire the immense bookseller's patrimony guarded for centuries by the religious who, as we know, were the holders of culture and transformed the silent libraries into a special place, where they could devote themselves to reading and studying while enjoying a peaceful atmosphere.

The books in their possession are ancient texts, unique editions ed unobtainable and the smell and color of the pages yellowed by the passage of time increase their value and charm.

A journey through splendid and hidden places of history and culture.
