Alberto Angela will be the guest of honor at the market exhibition at the cloister of San Marcellino, an appointment with presentations, visits and stands

An interesting cultural initiative will take place on  9 and 10 May 2015 at Cloister of the Saints Marcellino and Festo at Largo S. Marcellino in Naples, thanks to the "Collecting Nature" event

It is a market-exchange exhibition organized by the Museum Center of Natural and Physical Sciences of the Federico II University of Naples. A traditional event that this year reaches its ninth edition and which always sees a large participation of mineral enthusiasts, fossil, shellsinsects and minerals, but also an opportunity to meet important personalities from the world of research and scientific dissemination.

The guests

The guest of honor of this edition will be Alberto Angela is Saturday May 9, at 11.30 he will be at the church of San Marcellino to discuss his story "The three days of Pompeii" and will meet admirers and onlookers, discussing science with them.

The next day, however, there will be a meeting with Andrea Travaglini at 11.00, researcher of the "Anton Dohrn" Zoological Station, who will discuss "Collecting marine animals for science and sale: the case of the Zoological Station of Naples".

Stands and initiatives

During the two days of the event there will also be some stands of some exhibitors who will show their collections, also explaining to the little ones the beauties and the mechanisms of nature.
There will also be two interesting initiatives. The first is "Observing above ..." which, thanks to a telescope and the collaboration of researchers from the Capodimonte Astronomical Observatory, will allow theobservation of sunspots. With the second initiative, the researchers of the Museum, Archive and Library unit of the “Anton Dohrn” Zoological Station will present to the children “The inhabitants of the sea”.

Visits to the Paleontology Museum

Finally, you can also visit the Museum of Paleontology, also located in the cloister of San Marcellino, with the expert guide of the Ediacara, Naturalia and Zoon Associations. With “I speak to you of…”, they will explain mineralogy, zoology, anthropology, paleontology and physics. Instead, with “The Earth is…” and “Collecting plants”, the didactic experiences proposed by the Student associations of Geological Sciences and Natural Sciences of the Federico II University.

Finally, we recall that for the Royal Mineralogical Museum, Zoological Museum, Anthropology Museum, Paleontology Museum, Physics Museum theadmission will be free for all weekends in May.
