50 faithful digital reproductions of Modigliani's original works on display at the Agora Morelli in Naples

The famous will soon be on show in Naples "Femmes"that characterized the life of the Livorno artist Amedeo Modigliani, known above all for the countless paintings that portray women with tapered necks and stylized faces.

22 from May to August 9 2015 will be presented to the public 50 works by Amedeo Modigliani reproduced digitally, in an exhibition entitled "Les Femmes", which will be set up in the large and suggestive entrance hall ofAgora Morelli.

To enrich and contextualize the exhibition beyond 90 vintage photos and documents, often unpublished, relating to the life of the great Italian artist and the historical period he lived (the fervent Paris of the 20s), but also videos, films, animations in compositing and a special app to download, which will make a simple exhibition an extraordinary and unique event of cultural promotion and dissemination, which will reach the general public with the new methods of experiential fruition applied to the cultural heritage.

The exhibition is included in the program of the May of the 2015 Monuments.

New fruition experiences: technology to support art

Le 50 works on show in Naples they will not be original canvases by the artist but perfect digital reproductions of the originals, of which theAmedeo Modigliani Institute, which organizes the event, owns the rights of use and of which it has respected dimensions and colors.

The women was born from a “dream” of the Modigliani Institute, that of "To bring together at the same time and in the same place the complete work of the greatest Italian artist of the twentieth century", especially on the occasion of the centenary of the death of the great Livorno artist (1920-2020). The Neapolitan exhibition is, therefore, the first section of a work of the highest value and value, never represented and organized before.

To realize this "dream" they have been used sophisticated reproduction technologies of colors and light of the original canvases, with special LED lights dosed appropriately for each area of each painting, to repeat the original intensity and depth of the colors.

One of Amedeo Modigliani's works

It is not the first time that technology and art work together to make great art available to the public. Last year An impossible exhibition enchanted visitors by showing, for the first time in a single location, works by artists of the caliber of Leonardo, Raphael and Caravaggio, through the most faithful reproduction on backlit screens.

In Florence, Milan and other European cities, Van Gogh Alive, a multimedia event that involves the senses of the spectators through the projection of Van Gogh's masterpieces accompanied by music and excerpts from his letters, has shown that new digital and interactive technologies can bring the creative universe of artists closer to contemporary spectators, involving them in new experiences of artistic fruition, in emotions and suggestions impossible to convey with “classic” works.

The location: the Morelli Agora

To make the exhibition The femmes of Modigliani even more fascinating is the choice of a suggestive underground location: theAgora Morelli. It is a huge entrance hall, able to accommodate up to 500 people, obtained from the original Bourbon cave of Chiatamone, gateway to the famous Bourbon Tunnel.

In this way, the spectators will be invited to make an unforgettable journey into the heart of the subsoil of Naples, in a harmonious contrast between ancient and modern.

Moreover it will be possible, thanks to the agreement with the Amedeo Modigliani Institute, visit the Bourbon tunnel at the exit from the exhibition with a small surcharge on the cost of the ticket.
