Malaise

The young and talented Neapolitan director Davide Iodice conceived an original "Hamlet" in a rap key, in which the famous Shakespeare tragedy has been completely rewritten in Neapolitan by a group of five Neapolitan rappers who have adapted the verses of the Bard to the metrics and language of this musical genre and to our dialect. As Davide Iodice himself stated, on the choice of his reinterpretation of the classic: “Because Hamlet is the very emblem of making theater and it is a question of maturity. I rediscover this need now, as I find again the need to say among many others, a word of mine about Naples [...] here I feel that it is not so much a question of being or not being but of being unwell, in the double sense of our language that says together bad person but also of a profound, existential discouragement: to be or not to be evil, rather. No one better and better than the numerous rappers of our territories can express, in my opinion, this malaise today ".
