Great exhibition on Egypt in the museums of Naples and Pompeii with frescoes, statues and artifacts

With the exhibition "Egypt Pompeii" we go to the discovery of two wonderful civilizations in the museums of Naples and Pompeii.

The "Egypt Pompeii" exhibition is a special event that, over four dates, will visit three key sites housing artifacts from Egyptian and Hellenic civilizations . The Egyptian Museum of Turin, the National Museum of Naples , and the archaeological excavations of Pompeii have decided to stage this extraordinary exhibition of Egyptian and Hellenic artifacts, frescoes, statues , and mosaics, drawing heavily from their iconography, to bring together two very different yet historically linked cultures.

The event preceding the one in Naples will take place in Turin from March 5, 2016, at the Egyptian Museum, where hundreds of Egyptian and Greco-Roman artifacts from our museum and other Italian and foreign museums will be exhibited.

From April 16, 2016 , in the Large Palestra of Pompeii , you can admire seven monumental lion-headed statues of the goddess Sekhmet and the seated statue of Pharaoh Thutmose III , on loan from the Egyptian Museum of Turin. The worship of the goddess Sekhmet refers to the relationship between divinity and the world, between the cosmos and the order imposed by the gods: video installations and statues demonstrate the importance of these rituals.

From June 28, 2016, the third stop will be at the National Museum of Naples, with the inauguration of the new visitor route through the permanent collection . This will focus attention on the cults that arrived in Campania from the East via Egypt. This will include the obsidian cups from Stabiae and the two frescoes from Herculaneum depicting scenes from Isiac ceremonies.

On October 8, 2016, the project will conclude with the reopening of the Egyptian collection at the Naples museum . Over 1200 objects will be on display, and there will be a new itinerary divided by theme : Men and Pharaohs, The Tomb and Funerary Goods, Mummification, The Magical and Religious World, Writing, Crafts, and Egypt in Campania.
