With the exhibition "Egypt Pompeii" we go to the discovery of two wonderful civilizations in the museums of Naples and Pompeii.
La exhibition "Egypt Pompeii" is a special event that, in four dates, will touch three very important guardian sites of the finds of the Egyptian and Hellenic civilization. We are talking about the Egyptian Museum of Turin, the National Museum of Naples and archaeological excavations of Pompeii who decided to set up this extraordinary performance of artifacts, frescoes, statues and Egyptian and Hellenic mosaics that have taken a lot from their iconography, to bring together two very different cultures but historically linked.
The appointment that will precede those of Naples is in Turin from 5 March 2016, at the Egyptian Museum where hundreds of Egyptian and Greco-Roman finds will be exhibited coming from our museum and from other Italians and foreigners.
Since April 16 2016instead, in the Great Gym of Pompeii, they will be able to admire seven monumental statues with a lion's head of the goddess Sekhmet and the seated statue of the Pharaoh Tutmose III, loaned by the Egyptian Museum of Turin. The worship of the goddess Sekhmet leads back to the relationship between divinity and the world, between the cosmos and the order imposed by the gods: video installations and statues show the importance of these rituals.
Since June 28 2016 the third stage is al National Museum of Naples with the inauguration of new route to visit the permanent collection and will serve to focus attention on the cults that arrived from the East through Egypt in Campania. Here will be placed the obsidian cups from Stabia and the two frescoes from Herculaneum with scenes of Isiac ceremonies.
The 8 October 2016 the project will end with the reopening of the Egyptian collection of the Naples museum. Over 1200 objects will be exposed and there will be a new path with breakdowns by theme: Men and Pharaohs, The Tomb and the Funerary Equipment, The Mummification, The magical and religious world, Scripture, Professions and Egypt in Campania.
